CHF Entertainment Ltd. are on the lookout for keen green-fingered gardeners to have a go at growing the tallest ‘Sunflower Sid’ in their latest competition focused at Primary School children.

To coincide with National Gardening Week, the Sunflower Sid Competition launched today and is looking for Primary School children and individuals to simply get out into the garden this springtime to plant, nurture and grow their very own Sunflower Sid sunflower.

CHF Entertainment have teamed up with the UK’s largest seed and plant retailer Thompson & Morgan to supply the sunflower seeds to all eager participants. The tallest Sunflower entered will win a £250 Thompson & Morgan Voucher for their School to spend on gardening supplies.

Thompson & Morgan is also helping to nurture a growing passion among school children by providing a £5 voucher prize for the winner from each school to spend on seeds or plants. It is also helping to boost the chances of early entrants by providing its unique incredibloom fertiliser to the first 300 schools to register. This new flower feed not only encourages superior stem and foliage growth, in comparison trials it has been shown to encourage 400 per cent more flowers per plant compared to plants given no feed, far outstripping the performance of other feeds on the market. This won’t lead to 400 blooms per sunflower plant but it should encourage some of the biggest sunflower heads in the UK!

Not only can participants take part in the CHF Entertainment grow Sunflower Sid Competition, but Thompson & Morgan also have an annual competition to grow a record breaking sunflower, the current world record is 9.17m – 30ft 1in which if broken has a grand prize of £1000*.

“We are hoping that our Sunflower Sid Green Fingers Competition encourages children across the UK to get out outside this springtime and take an interest in what’s growing in their garden and surrounding green spaces.” Said Jenny Johnstone, Commercial Director.
